In the beginning God saw that the light was good and separated the light from the darkness (Genesis 1:4). That creative act not only orders the cosmos, but reveals a central characteristic of the divine character: God brings clarity where there was confusion. The separation between light and darkness is an expression of His sovereignty and of His goodness in ordering what is useful and true.
Separating light from darkness also speaks to us about how God opened the way for us to see and understand. Light reveals the hidden; darkness hides and confuses. When there is clarity in our hearts that comes from God, the knots of fear, guilt, and doubt begin to unravel. In Christ, the fullness of that light is given to us, and in Him revelation becomes knowledge that transforms.
If you say 'I understand everything,' let it be the fruit of the light He grants and not of human pride. Asking for understanding is to acknowledge that we depend on divine illumination: reading Scripture, praying with humility, and obeying what the truth requires. Practice the discipline of bringing your doubts to the Word and to the believing community; there the light of God will separate the true from the false and give you concrete steps to walk.
Do not fear personal nights: the same God who separated light from darkness can bring clarity to your life today. Trust in His work, seek His face, and allow His light to guide your decisions; thus you will walk with peace and purpose. Take heart.
