Romans 10:17 reminds us that faith does not appear out of nowhere, but is born from hearing the word of Christ. God does not ask us to believe blindly, but opens His heart in Scripture to show us who He is. Every time you hear or read the gospel, God Himself is presenting Himself before you, speaking to you with love. True faith is not a human effort to imagine something beautiful, but a sincere response to what God has already said and done. Therefore, if you feel your faith is weak, the first step is not to look more at yourself, but to listen more attentively to Christ. He is the source, and His word is the channel through which His life reaches your heart.
The central idea of this passage is that to believe is to trust in what God has spoken in His Son. God did not just give us commandments; He gave Himself to us in Christ out of love. On the cross, Jesus is the ultimate proof that the word of God is trustworthy: what He promised, He fulfilled. Thus, faith is not just accepting certain ideas, but resting in a living Person who gave Himself for us. Trusting in Christ means leaning on His faithfulness more than on our changing feelings. When we look at the cross, we hear the voice of God saying: "I love you and I will not abandon you."
Practically, this means that feeding your faith is constantly exposing yourself to the word of Christ. It is not enough to hear occasionally; just as the body needs daily food, your heart needs the gospel every day. You can do this by reading the Bible, listening to good preaching, discussing faith with other believers, and praying with Scripture open. Every promise, every story of God's faithfulness, is another brick in the house of your trust in Him. When doubt comes, return to what God said, not to what you feel. Faith grows when you choose to remember His word more than your fears.
If today you find it hard to believe, do not condemn yourself: approach the voice of Christ, even with your little faith. Tell Him honestly: "Lord, I want to trust more in Your word, speak to me and help me to believe." He does not reject the one who approaches weak; on the contrary, He delights in strengthening the one who leans on Him. Let His love demonstrated on the cross be the foundation of your daily trust. God gave Himself completely for you because He loves you more than you understand, and His word is as firm as His love. Keep listening to Christ: as His voice fills your heart, your faith will have fresh reasons to rise and move forward with hope.
