Talita cum: The voice that transforms death into life

In Mark 5:41 we see Jesus approaching tenderly: taking the girl by the hand and saying Talita cum — 'Little girl, I say to you, get up!' In that gesture the Lord's compassion and authority converge: it is not a distant voice, but the closeness of one who touches the most fragile to restore life.

Before these words we can pause at the Lord's tenderness: he takes the hand of the one who has fallen and pronounces an order that transforms death into life. If you feel downcast, distant, or 'dead' in some area of your life, remember that the same voice that called the girl to rise continues to call today with tenderness and authority. It is not a cold call; it is a personal invitation to return to life in communion with God.

Responding implies concrete movements: come close (return to the Word and to prayer), allow Jesus to take your hand (yield your pride and accept his touch), and obey his word even when the situation seems hopeless. The resurrection he offers does not depend on our merits but on his power; our part is to believe, open the heart, and allow his life to flow where there is spiritual death today.

Allow me to encourage you to respond with confidence to that invitation: come close, let him take your hand and speak his living word over your situation. Rise even if your strength is small; the voice that commanded death to return to life continues to call today. Go with hope and regain life in his presence.
