Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also: looking toward the eternal home

Angiebel C.

Jesus invites us to look beyond the immediate, to discern the true direction of our heart in the light of Matthew 6:21: where our treasure is, there our heart will be also. In the ordinary, we can spend time, resources, and affection as if they were fleeting treasures, but the Lord calls us to reorganize our priorities so that the center of our life is Christ and his kingdom. When we fix our eyes on an eternal home, every daily decision gains a new weight: our finances, our words, our actions reveal what we love and in whom we trust. May the memory of an eternal dwelling motivate us to live with integrity, generosity, and obedience, knowing that faithfulness in the small things prepares the heart for the eternal. The call is practical: as we plan, as we forgive, as we serve, let us remember that our true riches are in Christ and that our hope transforms the way we live in the present.

In this journey, the eternal home is not an escape from the world, but a promise that realigns our relationships and our work with the Father’s design. If we love visibly, if we give joyfully, if we pray in secret, we reflect that our treasure is in heaven. The Christian life is tested in the consistency between what we say we believe and what we live day by day. When the heart is anchored in eternity, anxiety and haste yield to trust in God, who sustains our present realities with the promise of a final dwelling. May this certainty transform our decisions, our burdens, and our service; may every act look toward the eternal home God prepares for those who love Him.

Let us, brothers, be encouraged to live with eyes fixed on the divine reward. If our eternal home sustains our hope, then we can face trials with patience, temptation with discernment, and daily work with purpose. May the Lord strengthen our desire to please Him in every sphere: family, work, relationships, and ministry, so that, even in the midst of the journey, our treasure remains Christ and his glory. Let us trust that His kingdom is manifested in daily faithfulness, and that, in the end, we will hear the exhortation of the One who is coming: take heart, a dwelling has been prepared for you in the house of our God.
