Getting up very early, while it was still dark, Jesus left and went to a solitary place, and there he prayed. In the quiet, the Son of God models the priority of communion with the Father before action. It is no accident that Jesus' first response to the crowd that seeks him is to seek the Father; there he found direction, purpose, and strength for what would come in his itinerary of preaching and liberation. In our schedule, we also need a holy pause to listen, to remember why we exist and where the Lord is sending us.
Simon and his companions went to look for Jesus. When they found him, they told him, "Everyone is looking for you." In the midst of human noise, Jesus does not allow himself to be swept away by popularity or by the urgency of the crowd, but maintains the tempo of the divine plan. Our nature tends to respond hastily to external demands, but grace invites us to sustain ourselves in prayer to discern whether the right thing is to move toward the crowd or, as Jesus did, to move to new places to fulfill God's will. Discernment comes when the soul feeds on communion with God.
Jesus answered them, "Let us go somewhere else, to the nearby villages, so that I may preach there also; that is why I have come." This answer reveals Christ's wise sovereignty: we are not at the mercy of the crowds, but every action is born from a divine purpose. We are also called to go where He sends us, to bring the good news to the corners where it has not yet been heard, with the same impulse of prayer and obedience. May our life be a journey guided by mission and fed by intimacy with the Father, so that every step is filled with hope and faith in the plan God has prepared for each day.
