When Jesus saw the crowd, he went up on the mountainside and sat down. Then his disciples came to him. This scene shows Jesus drawing near to people by looking at their needs. The image of Jesus and the disciples gathered on the mountain makes us reflect deeply on our faith journey. Jesus saw the weariness and longing of the crowd, approached them, preached, and the disciples listened and sought to follow his teaching. This passage invites us to look at people from Jesus' perspective in every situation, to open our hearts for dialogue, and to proclaim the way of the kingdom of God with a humble posture. In our own lives, we are reminded to imitate Jesus' high and broad viewpoint, to share in our neighbor's pain and hopes, and to act so that the good news of God's kingdom is made visible in concrete ways. Relying on God, may we sometimes seek Jesus' guidance even in silence, and, with love and mercy, build each other up.
