The act of dividing His clothes, treated like a trivial game, starkly contrasts the gravity of the moment. As they cast lots, the soldiers seemed indifferent to the weight of what was happening. This indifference serves as a poignant reminder of the times we may overlook the sacred in our everyday lives. We can become so engrossed in our pursuits that we fail to acknowledge the divine presence working through our trials. In our busy lives, we have a choice. Like those soldiers, we can remain numb to the blessings around us, or we can choose to recognize and honor the sacrifices that lead to our salvation.

Paul reminds us in Romans 5:3-4, “Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope.”
