Guard My Tongue

As we face the challenges of the day, the words we use can either build up or tear down. The power of life and death is in the tongue. Hence, inspired by Psalms 141:3: "Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips," let us seek God's assistance to guard our speech, ensuring that what we say aligns with His will and brings life to those who hear.

Our words reflect what fills our heart. If our hearts are overflowing with God’s love, our words will naturally be seasoned with grace and truth. But even the most faithful among us can let harmful words slip through, especially when we are under stress or pressure. We must therefore remain vigilant and prayerful, asking God to guard our tongues and guide our expressions.

Let this be our prayer today: "Lord, set a guard over our mouths and keep watch over the doors of our lips." Just as a sentinel stands guard over a city, may the Holy Spirit help us monitor our words, keeping us from speaking ill and helping us use our words to bless, inspire, and encourage others instead.

As we start our day, let’s remember that words can create, heal, and transform. They can invoke love, inspire hope, and infuse courage. May we be mindful of this power and use it wisely. May our words reflect the love of Christ and be a source of light in this world. Have a great day, and let every word you speak today be a blessing to someone else!
