The scripture today is found in 2 Peter 1:3-11. The apostle Peter uses this passage to remind us of the divine power we have received through our knowledge of Jesus Christ, which not only grants us everything necessary for a godly life but also makes us partakers of the divine nature.
"His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness." 2 Peter 1:3.
Isn't it amazing that God's power has been bestowed upon us, giving us everything we need to pursue a life of godliness? We are indeed saved and called out of corruption and sinful lusts of the world into His divine nature. But this gift isn't a passive one; it requires an active response from us.
Peter encourages us to add to our faith virtue and to virtue, knowledge; to knowledge, self-control and to self-control, perseverance; to perseverance, godliness, and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. Each virtue is a stepping stone to another, building us up in the likeness of Christ.
"For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." 2 Peter 1:8.
In demonstrating these godly virtues, we assure our calling and election, ensuring that we will never stumble but will be granted a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
So, I encourage you today, my brothers and sisters, to earnestly pursue these virtues, for they make us fruitful and effective in our walk with Christ. Remember, we have been given divine power; let's use it to foster godly virtues in our lives and mirror His divine nature.
May these words uplift and guide you throughout your day. Remember, you are loved and cherished by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who has given you this divine power to lead a fruitful Christ-like life.
