The Obedience that Invokes Blessing

The act of obedience opens us up to the unlimited favor of God. This truth is that which Abraham understood and expressed in Genesis 22:16-18. Abraham's unwavering obedience to God, even when it was tremendously difficult, speaks volumes about his faith and love for the Lord. By not withholding his son, his only son, Abraham demonstrated an obedience that was immediate and complete. He showed us that sometimes, to know the extent of our faith, God might ask something precious of us, not because He desires to take it away, but to ensure we truly trust Him above all else.

When such unwavering faith and obedience are displayed, the Lord responds with a blessing that is beyond comprehension. In the case of Abraham, God made him a promise, an inviolable one, made by God Himself. The promised blessing was not just for Abraham alone, but it extended to his offspring as well. This assurance can be applied in our lives too. When we obey God with all our heart, we not only secure a blessing for ourselves but also pave the way for those who come after us.

It's fascinating to understand that our obedience to God can have far-reaching effects. Abraham's obedience led to the blessing of all nations through his offspring. This means, as Abraham's spiritual offspring, we are a part of that blessing. We are the multiplying stars and sand, the possessors of our enemy's gates, and conduits of blessing to the nations.

As you go through your day today, remember the blessings that obedience brings. Let Abraham's example inspire you to trust and obey God, even when it seems challenging. Recall that our Creator always rewards those who diligently seek and obey Him. May the God of Abraham bless you and cause you to multiply as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Have a blessed day!
