Listening to His Voice

In John 10:27, Jesus assures us, "My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me." This presents a comforting reminder of our relationship with the Lord. As His sheep in His mighty sheepfold, we are not just faceless, nameless entities lost in a crowd. Instead, He knows each one of us intimately, and we know Him, recognising the sound of His voice calling us.

Every day presents a cacophony of noises and voices, each trying to distract us, lead us astray, or drown out the sound of our Shepherd. But His sheep, we, are different. Amid the noise, we can discern His voice. We should take solace in the truth that God's voice isn’t one of confusion or despair, but rather one that guides us towards tranquillity, understanding and love.

Remember this: the more we listen to His voice, the more familiar we become with its tone and message. Spending time in prayer, in His word, and in fellowship with fellow believers, makes it easier to tune out disruptive elements and focus on His guidance. Jesus' voice leads us, comforts us, and reassures us. Let's make it our priority to listen and follow His guidance.

It is so striking, how our Savior intelligently intertwines the knowledge of us and our following Him. This underlines how our response to His voice is a proof of our belonging to Him. As we start this day, let us tune our hearts to listen carefully to His voice. As His sheep, let us follow Him, trust and rest assured, abiding in the love and protection of our Good Shepherd. Let His voice be the loudest in your life today.
