The Lord does not evaluate people as we do. While we focus on appearances, status, or visible abilities, He looks directly at the heart. In 1 Samuel 16:7, God tells Samuel: "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." This truth reminds us that God's standards are completely different from ours, and He often chooses and raises those the world would overlook.
Often, we fail to see the potential God has placed in our own lives. We are limited by our insecurities, past failures, or others' expectations. Yet, the Lord sees beyond our limitations and has plans greater than we can imagine. When He called David, a simple shepherd, to be king, He showed that His vision goes far beyond what is apparent. Similarly, He may be preparing something extraordinary in your life, even when you can't see it.
We must also be careful not to judge those God has chosen to raise up. If He decided to use someone who, in our eyes, seems inadequate or inexperienced, who are we to question? The Lord has the power to turn the unlikely into instruments of His glory. Our responsibility is to trust His wisdom and support our brothers and sisters, recognizing that He works in ways we don't always understand.
May we rest in the certainty that God sees us with eyes of love and purpose. He is not swayed by appearances or human achievements but looks at the posture of our hearts. If we remain faithful and trusting, we will see His plans fulfilled in ways that exceed our understanding. After all, the One who sees hidden potential is the same who can do the impossible in our lives.
