Walking in Love and Purity

Begin your day with this truth in mind: You, dear reader, are a beloved child of God. In His great love, God sent His son Jesus to the cross for us. Ephesians 5:1-2 tells us, "Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, just as Christ also loved us and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma." This passage not only reveals the depth of God's love for us but also shows how we should respond to that love - by imitating God and walking in love.

As we continue reading in Ephesians 5, we are instructed very directly on the importance of purity in our words and actions. Verses 3-4 say, "But immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints; and there must be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks." These words from the Apostle Paul iterates that as God's people, we should shun immorality, impurity, and greed. Our actions and words should reflect our gratitude for God's grace rather than participate in worldly impurities.

The warning in Ephesians 5:5 also reminds us of the serious consequences of indulging in immoral practices - "For this you know with certainty, that no immoral or impure person or covetous man, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God." We must remember that such actions and attitudes separate us from God. But the good news is, we are not left helpless. Christ's sacrifice has given us the power to live a life that pleases God.

Today, let's choose to imitate God and walk in love, rejecting any form of impurity. Let your words and actions radiate the grace and love you have received from God. Be a light in this world that often overlooks the importance of moral integrity.

May your day be marked with the divine love and purity that comes from being a child of God. Stay encouraged and know that our Savior walks with you every step of your journey.
