The journey of the people of Israel through the wilderness was marked by trials that tested their faith and dependence on God. Many of these situations were directly linked to the people’s lack of faith, as despite witnessing countless miracles, they stubbornly refused to recognize God’s sovereignty. With each new challenge, they acted as if God did not care for them, complaining and questioning, “Why did we ever leave Egypt?” (Numbers 11:20). This attitude of disbelief and ingratitude deeply displeased God’s heart.
God had delivered Israel from Egypt with a mighty hand, parted the Red Sea, provided manna from heaven, and brought water from the rock. Yet, in the face of every new difficulty, the people doubted His care and power. In Numbers 11:23, God responds to Moses with a question that still echoes today: “Is the Lord’s arm too short?” In other words, God was saying, “Is anything impossible for Me?” This response invites us to reflect on our own faith.
How often do we act like the people of Israel? Faced with a challenge, we forget all the times God has already delivered us, provided for us, and done the impossible in our lives. We complain, doubt, and question His care, as if He has changed or lost His power. But the truth is that the same God who parted the sea, sent manna, and guided Israel with a pillar of fire and cloud is still with us. He remains the God of the impossible, the One who never grows weary of sustaining and guiding us.
God invites us to look back and remember all the situations from which He has already brought us out. These memories should strengthen our faith and encourage us to trust Him, no matter the size of the challenge we face. If the problem seems big, God is infinitely bigger. If the situation seems impossible, He is the God of the impossible. The same Word He spoke to Moses applies to us: “You will see whether or not what I say will come true for you” (Numbers 11:23).
Therefore, today, stop and reflect: Where have you been doubting God? What situations have caused you to complain instead of trust? Remember that the same God who acted in the past is by your side today. He has not changed, and His arm is not too short. Trust Him, even when the path seems uncertain. He is faithful to fulfill His promises and do the impossible in your life. May we, instead of complaining, raise our voices in gratitude and faith, recognizing that He is the Lord of all things, the God who never abandons us.
