Today we reflect on the story of Moses and his journey in leading the people of Israel out of Egypt as depicted in Exodus 4:21 and Exodus 5:22. Moses, chosen by God to liberate his people, was forewarned about the Pharaoh's hardened heart. Yet, when faced with the reality of the situation, Moses questioned God, asking, "Why have you sent me?"
Again, in the wilderness, when the people lacked water, Moses turned his questioning towards God, which leads to his punishment - he would not set foot in the Promised Land. The story triggers an essential thought about the fundamental element of our relationship with God - faith.
It is normal to face trials and tribulations, and it is natural to have questions. However, what saddened God's heart was Moses's continuous questioning, even after witnessing the miracles God performed.
This account serves as a reminder for us that God values our faith. Even when circumstances seem bleak, and the heart becomes weary, we are to keep our trust in Him intact. God rejoices when we display faith, and grieves when we doubt His blessings and His path.
Hebrews 11:6 reminds us, "And without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." Let's strive to be believers who earnestly seek and trust Him, displaying unwavering faith even during trials.
As you go about your day, I encourage you to keep faith as your pillar. When doubt creeps in, remember God's promise in Isaiah 41:10, "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
