"Listening In the Midst of Anguish"

The scripture in Exodus 6:9 reveals the predicament of the Israelites who were so burdened by their harsh slavery that they couldn't listen to Moses. It was not a rejection of Moses, but an overwhelming circumstance that caused their hearts to become hard. Just like the Israelites, times of intense suffering or unyielding pressure in our lives can make us deaf to God's reassuring voice.

At such times, it's vital to remember that it is not our ability to hear God that guarantees His presence, but His faithful promises. When our personal struggles become too loud, overshadowing God's voice, it's helpful to recall His nature - He is a merciful, caring, and faithful God. Even when the Israelites did not listen to Moses, God didn't abandon them. Instead, He continued to execute His liberation plan for them.

God's love for us doesn't fluctuate based on how well we listen. Even in our darkest moments, when our ability to listen is impaired, God's care and merciful nature are constant. He is ever-present and persistently working out His plans for us, just as He did for the Israelites. His plan passionately pursues us, even when we feel too crushed to believe in His promises.

Take heart today in knowing that even when your circumstances seem unbearable, and you struggle to hear God's voice, He is still at work. His plan for your liberation hasn't changed. Even in the toughest times, God's faithfulness remains unchanged. May this assurance encourage you today and every day. Have a blessed day!
