Today, we delve into an important teaching from the book of Exodus 16:4. A scripture that shows us how God takes us through adversity to teach and mold us into becoming faithful followers. It reads, "Then the Lord said to Moses, 'Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a day's portion every day, that I may test them, whether or not they will walk in My instruction'."
Just like the people of Israel, we often find ourselves in situations where we feel the urge to stockpile our blessings. This eagerness does not stem from a place of abundance, but from a lack of trust in God's daily provision. But remember, God calls us to live not in fear, but in faith. As our Heavenly Father, He seeks to provide for us daily, asking us to trust Him for our ‘daily bread.’
In times of adversity, our faith is tested. But it's within these trials, we discover the depth of our trust in Him. God doesn't promise a life without struggles. However, He promises to be with us through them, teaching us, molding us, and shaping our character to resemble His.
When the Israelites wandered in the desert, they survived not on their stockpile, but on the daily manna, God provided. It was a test of their obedience and trust in Him. Adversity can feel like a desert - lonely, desolate, and challenging. Still, it's in the ‘desert’ we learn reliance on God and appreciation for His daily provision.
My prayer for you today, beloved, is that you live in the reassurance of God's provision. May you step out in faith, knowing that He will provide your daily bread. That every adversity you face is an invitation to trust Him more, learn His ways, and become stronger in faith.
In the face of adversity, remember to trust in God's unchanging hand. He sees, He knows, and He will provide. May His peace fill your heart, and His strength bolster your faith today and always. To He who is able to do exceedingly and abundantly more than we can ask or imagine, through His power at work in us, be praise and glory forever.
