Excellence in All Circumstances

"In whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as though you were working for the Lord and not for people." Colossians 3:23

We see the importance of doing our best no matter where we are or what our situation may be. Think about the story of Joseph from the Book of Genesis in the Bible:

Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers but despite the dire circumstances he found himself in, he continued to work diligently and faithfully. The Egyptian master noticed, "The Lord was with Joseph and gave him success in everything he did" (Genesis 39:3). Even as a slave, Joseph was blessed because of his attitude and effort.

Things seemed to get worse for Joseph as he was falsely accused and thrown into prison. However, even in prison, Joseph maintained his faith and continued to work diligently. Thus, God was with him and blessed him. "Even in prison, the Lord showed him his faithful love, and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden, who placed him in charge of all the prisoners" (Genesis 39:20-22).

God's favor was upon Joseph not because of his position, but because of his attitude and effort in all situations. This is a powerful lesson for us today.

Eventually, Joseph's journey led him to a greater purpose and a blessing: "You shall be in charge of my palace, and all my people are to submit to your orders. Only with respect to the throne will I be greater than you." So Pharaoh said to Joseph, "I hereby put you in charge of the whole land of Egypt" (Genesis 41:40-41).

Our positions do not define us, our actions do. Regardless of where we are, let's strive to do our best, for God blesses such attitudes.

As you step into the day, may this truth inspire you to give your best in all that you do. Remember, God is with you and His blessings are upon you as you do your work with all your heart. May your day be filled with His favor and blessings.
