Living in Fellowship

In our life journey as believers, one of the essential practices we should adhere to is living in fellowship. By acknowledging the strength in unity, absorbing the teachings from the scriptures, and embodying the image of Christ, we can build a community that glorifies God.

In the book of Romans, Apostle Paul provides us with a blueprint on how to achieve this. He starts with a call for us to endure one another's weaknesses in Romans 15:1-3, "We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up. For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: 'The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.'"

This scripture reminds us to foster tolerance and kindness towards others, just as Christ bore our burdens and insults. By doing this, we mirror Christ's love and bring unity amongst us.

The next step is to learn from scriptures. Romans 15:4 states, "For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope." By engaging with the Word of God, we gain knowledge, build our faith, and draw collective inspiration, which strengthens us when facing life's challenges.

To actualize fellowship, Paul instructs us to accept one another just as Christ accepted us. He states in Romans 15:7, "Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God." Living in fellowship requires that we welcome each other with open arms, embracing our diversity and using it to enrich our community.

Finally, Paul assures us of the spiritual fruits we will reap from living in fellowship in Romans 15:13, "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Living in communion with our fellow believers not only strengthens our faith but also fills us with joy, hope, and peace.

So today, let us strive to live in fellowship with each other, bearing each other’s burdens, learning from the scriptures, accepting one another, and rejoicing in the hope and peace that comes from on high. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him.
