In His infinite wisdom and love, God not only calls us to His work but also equips us with everything we need to fulfill it. In the book of Exodus, we see a striking example of this when Moses announces to the people of Israel: "See, the Lord has chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and He has filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge, and with all kinds of skills—to make artistic designs" (Exodus 35:30-31). Bezalel was chosen by God and filled with His Spirit to carry out a specific task: creating the elements of the tabernacle, a sacred place for God’s presence.
This account shows us that God not only calls us but also equips us. He grants spiritual gifts and natural abilities so that we can fulfill the purpose He has for our lives. Bezalel was gifted with artistic talent, but it was the Spirit of God who filled him with wisdom, understanding, and knowledge to use those gifts in a holy and effective way. This reminds us that our talents, no matter how impressive, only reach their full potential when they are consecrated to God and guided by His Spirit.
God does not act randomly. He chooses specific people for specific tasks, and every gift He gives has a purpose in His work. Bezalel was not just a skilled craftsman; he was an instrument in God’s hands to build something that would glorify the Lord and bless His people. Similarly, the gifts we receive—whether spiritual, such as prophecy, teaching, or mercy, or material, such as professional skills or financial resources—are tools God gives us to build His Kingdom and serve others.
However, it is important to remember that these gifts are not for our own glory or benefit. They are given so that we may serve, contribute, and glorify God. Bezalel did not use his skills to promote himself but to fulfill the mission God entrusted to him. In the same way, we are called to use our gifts with humility and gratitude, recognizing that everything we have comes from God and should be used for His honor.
May we, like Bezalel, be filled with the Spirit of God and use our gifts with excellence and dedication. May we recognize that every talent, every resource, and every opportunity we receive is a gift from God, intended to fulfill His purposes. And as we serve with our gifts, may we experience the joy of participating in the divine work, knowing that through us, God is building something eternal and glorious.
May the Holy Spirit guide us, empower us, and remind us daily that we have been called and equipped for something greater. May our gifts be used not for our own exaltation but for the glory of the One who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light.
