The Honouring Heart

Proverbs 3:9 encourages us, "Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops." This scripture is a profound reminder that everything we possess, every resource, every talent, and every good thing, is a gift from God. Our Creator doesn't need our wealth. However, He urges us to honor Him with it as a way to acknowledge His lordship over our lives and to display our gratitude.

Sometimes, the complexities of life can make us forget the simple truths of God’s word. We may find ourselves worrying about finances, jobs, or material possessions. But, this verse turns our attention back to who truly is in control. It may seem easy to tuck away the idea of honoring God with your wealth when it seems like there isn't enough to go around. But, honoring God isn't merely about money; it's about the condition of the heart. It's about acknowledging His sovereignty and trusting Him, even in challenging times.

Finding ways to honor God with our wealth doesn't always mean giving away money. It could also be using our talents and time to serve others, investing in the kingdom's work, or making godly choices in our spending. Remember, the Lord values your willing heart more than the size of your gift. He loves a cheerful giver.

As you go through your day, remember this truth. Let it guide your actions and decisions. Honor God in all that you do, and let your life be a testament to your love for Him. Take heart knowing that as you honor Him, God is using you to be a blessing to others, and He will indeed take care of your needs. May you have a wonderful day living in the light of His glory and honor.
