Living in Abundance

Abiding in Christ is the key to unlocking the fullness of a life lived in God’s infinite grace. John 15:7 gives us a bright lens to look at this divine promise - "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you want, and it will be done for you."

The first part of this promise calls us to ‘remain’ in Christ. In practice, this means seeking His presence in our day-to-day reality, walking in His ways, and holding fast to His teachings. It’s not a passive command, but an active, conscious decision to live in Christ. When we choose to abide in Him, we welcome Him to shape us, nurture us, and use us for His glory.

The second part of the promise is equally uplifting. When His words remain in us, we begin to align our desires with His. When we soak in His word, it becomes part of us - influencing our mindset, shaping our desires, and directing our actions. It’s then that our prayers become an echo of His will, and we can confidently ask, knowing that our Father, who loves us, will answer our prayers according to His good and perfect will.

But remember, the promise of receiving whatever we ask is rooted in our abiding in Christ and His words abiding in us. It’s not a ticket to self-gratification or an open cheque to demand our whims and caprices. Instead, it's an invitation to a deeper fellowship with our Saviour, leading to transformed desires and answered prayers. So today, as you navigate through your tasks, let this be your encouragement: abide in Christ, let His words abide in you, and confidently bring your requests to Him. You're loved, cared for, and cherished by our heavenly Father.
