Reflect on this powerful verse from Deuteronomy 10:18: 'He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing.'
This scripture reveals the character of our Heavenly Father – one of compassion, love, and active service. Evidence of God's love is found not just in His words but in His deeds. His love is practical. It cares for the orphan and widow; it shows hospitality to the stranger, providing them with their basic needs.
Our pursuit as Christians is to become more like our Father. Therefore, serving and helping others shouldn't simply be an act we do, but rather, it should be a part of who we are. A life centred in Christ changes our worldview. It enables us to see others not as separate but as part of the larger family of humanity, bound by God's love and grace.
When we serve others, we're not doing it for our salvation, because salvation comes only through faith in Jesus Christ. Yet, good deeds are a natural fruit of a transformed life. We assist others, not to earn God's favour, but because we have experienced His generous love and we desire to share this love with others.
Let your life be a testament to God's love and grace. Let others see Christ in you – in your words, in your actions, and in your sincere love for others. Serving others is not an obligation, it's an opportunity to express the love of God that resides within us.
Today, I encourage you to look around and find ways to serve others. Start small. Even a cup of water offered in Jesus' name is a significant act of service. You'll find that, as you step out in love, your faith deepens, your love for God intensifies, and your understanding of His love expands.
May you be a vessel of God's love today and always, serving others with a joyful heart and reflecting the beauty of Christ's love to the world around you.
His grace and peace be with you always.
