Understanding God’s Favor

Drawing from the heart touching story of Hannah in 1 Samuel 2:1 KJV, we learn about a woman who was once scorned for her inability to bear a child, yet she refused to despair. Instead, she turned to God in fervent prayer, and her story becomes a testament to God's immense love and providence.

"Hannah prayed and said: 'My heart rejoices in the Lord; in the Lord my horn is lifted high. My mouth boasts over my enemies, for I delight in your deliverance.'" (1 Samuel 2:1)

In her song of praise, Hannah proclaims her understanding of God's blessings. She rejoices in His salvation, admitting that it is God who lifts our heads when we are downtrodden, who fills our mouths with laughter when we are oppressed, who bestows upon us strength when we feel weak and grants us abundance when we are in need.

Contrary to human understanding, God's blessings are not about worldly power or wealth. His blessings come in various ways, often unseen or unappreciated by those focused on worldly measures of success. As Hannah expresses, "The bows of the warriors are broken, but those who stumbled are armed with strength." (1 Samuel 2:4)

Let's take encouragement from Hannah's testimony. God sees the oppressed and rescues them. He strengthens the weak, feeds the hungry, gives life to the barren, and revives those who are in depths of despair. Above all, God ensures that justice prevails.

As we continue our walk with God today, let us remember Hannah's unwavering faith. Let us remember how she trusted God in her suffering, and how she rejoiced in His blessings when they came.

May her story remind us that God’s favor is not a reward for our status, power or wealth, but a gift generously given to those who earnestly seek Him.

Wishing you a day filled with the joy of God's salvation and the peace of His favor.
