As children of God, we are often faced with divergent paths. One leads us closer to Christ, while the other separates us further away from Him. Our everyday choices ultimately decide our spiritual journey and our relationship with Our Heavenly Father.
Consider the following scriptures: In 1 Kings 18:21, Elijah challenges the people, proclaiming, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.” But the people were silent, having no response.
Then in Joshua 24:15-16, there's a different scene, where Joshua urges the Israelites to choose whom they will serve. He boldly declares, “But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve... As for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” And the people respond unanimously, “Far be it from us to forsake the LORD to serve other gods!”
In our own lives, silence and inaction are choices that distance us from God, leading us down a path of spiritual destruction. Whether it's by pursuing materialistic desires, succumbing to worldly pressures, or simply not making a conscious choice to serve God, we are choosing a path that takes us away from Him.
On the other hand, when we consciously choose God, when we decide to serve Him, we are choosing a path that brings us closer to Christ. This choice blesses us with peace, joy, and the fulfillment that comes from living a life in alignment with His divine will.
Life presents us with these two paths daily. Let us echo the unwavering resolve of Joshua and his household, making a firm commitment to serve the Lord in our actions, in our words, and in our hearts.
May your day be filled with the love of Christ, guiding you to make choices that draw you closer to Him. Remember, the path of righteousness leads to boundless blessings. Choose wisely, choose God.
