Be Strong and Courageous: Trust in God’s Unfailing Promise

The book of Joshua opens with God’s powerful exhortation to Joshua in Joshua 1:9, "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."

Here, the Israelites stood on the precipice of the promised land. The responsibility of leading them fell on Joshua. It would be a daunting task with many challenges, yet God reassured Joshua that he would not be alone. God was with him. This timeless message of God’s presence and faithfulness still rings true today, reminding us that we can have unwavering faith in God.

God’s desire is to see us trust Him even when the situations are challenging. Like Abraham who trusted God and set out to a place he was to receive as an inheritance. Like Esther, who courageously stood before the King, risking her life to save her people. Like Daniel who continued to worship God even when faced with death in the lion's den. These stalwarts of faith trusted God and were richly rewarded.

There's a great joy that comes to God's heart when we lean on Him, trust in Him, and move forward in courage. We not only honor God, but we also become beneficiaries of his blessings.

So as we traverse through life's journey, when we hear God’s instructions, we must not cower in fear. We must remember that He is the one who makes our path straight and opens the way for us. We may face vast rivers, towering walls, and strong opposition, but our God is mightier.

He not only leads us into the promised land but walks with us every step of the way. God’s promise to Joshua is God’s promise to us too. Wherever we go, God goes with us.

So today, let this promise embolden you. Face today with confidence knowing that the same God who commanded Joshua to be strong and courageous is with you wherever you go.

"Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you." - Deuteronomy 31:6.

May the Lord bless you and keep you, and may His face shine upon you as you trust in His unfailing promise, today and always.
