Sometimes, we face situations that seem completely insurmountable. Stress, fear, and doubt start to creep in. But when we reflect upon Exodus 18:8-9, we are reminded of two fundamental truths: First, we serve a powerful God who can deliver us from even the most severe circumstances. Second, our God delights in our safety and freedom. Moses recounted to his father-in-law Jethro all the hardships they had encountered on their journey, and how God delivered them. In response, Jethro was delighted and blessed by the good news of the Israelites' deliverance.
As we look back on the scenes of our own lives, we can see the way God has carried us through seemingly impossible circumstances. It is easy to surrender to despair when we are in the middle of a struggle, forgetting that God has always been there for us. Reflecting on our trials and God's constant deliverance helps us to develop a heart of gratitude, and an assurance of His continued presence in our lives.
Let's take a moment today to recognize the hand of God in our lives, and to share our own Exodus stories. Just like Jethro, those who hear about God's goodness in our lives will be encouraged and strengthened in their faith. As we share, we are not only bolstering our own faith but also becoming vessels through which God's grace and power are made visible to others.
So as you go about your day, remember the countless ways God has delivered you; from situations that seemed impossible, from trials that seemed unbearable. Allow this reflection to fill your heart with gratitude and your mouth with praises. Take time to share your testimony with someone today, and you will find joy and encouragement in the process. Have a blessed and fruitful day!
